JustList Verification, Badges, and Credentials Policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026

This Policy explains what a JustList badge or verification label means—and what it does not mean. The description displayed with a badge controls. A badge confirms only the limited check expressly stated and is not an endorsement, recommendation, warranty, guarantee, or prediction of conduct or work quality. A warning that JustList has not reviewed a license is not a verification badge and must not be styled as a positive trust signal.

1. General limitations

  1. Information and records may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, forged, transferred, or later changed.
  2. A check ordinarily reflects one point in time and is not continuous monitoring unless the badge expressly says otherwise.
  3. A check concerning an account owner may not cover every employee, helper, subcontractor, or person who appears at a job.
  4. A credential may authorize only certain work, value, location, entity, or responsible individual.
  5. No screening process can establish that a person is safe, honest, qualified for a specific project, insured for a particular loss, or likely to perform satisfactorily.

2. Permitted badge meanings

LabelLimited meaningDoes not mean
Email confirmedA confirmation link or code was completed for the displayed or account email.Identity, ownership, reputation, security, or continued control was verified.
Phone confirmedA code or confirmation was completed for a telephone number. The number belongs to the person, remains active, or is safe to contact.
Identity document checkedA disclosed verification provider reviewed specified identity information using its process.JustList conducted a criminal check, verified character, or guarantees that the person at the job is the checked person.
Business information checkedSpecified information was compared with a named public or third-party source on the stated date. The business is in good standing everywhere, solvent, insured, licensed for the project, or endorsed by JustList.
License record checked — jurisdiction and date shownJustList matched the displayed holder, license number, license type or classification, jurisdiction, and status to the identified licensing authority's public record on the displayed check date. The authority or JustList recommends the Provider; the license covers the Customer's project, every worker or location; no complaint or discipline exists; or the license remains valid after the check date.
License information provided by advertiserThe advertiser supplied the information and confirmed its accuracy. This attribution is not a verification badge. Unless a separate current license-check label appears, JustList has not recorded an authoritative check for that version of the listing.JustList confirmed the statement, no license is required, the advertiser may lawfully perform the work, or the information is genuine or current.
Insurance document reviewedJustList or a vendor reviewed a document appearing to state specified coverage and dates.Coverage was independently confirmed, premiums are current, exclusions do not apply, or an insurer will pay a claim.

Uploading a card, certificate, screenshot, or license number by itself does not qualify for the “License record checked” label. Before applying that label, JustList must compare the record with an authoritative public source or obtain equivalent confirmation from the issuing authority. The public profile should identify the jurisdiction, number when lawful to display, credential type or classification, status, check date, expiration when available, and a link or directions to the authority's lookup.

Advertiser declaration and optional checks. In categories that collect licensing information, the advertiser must either provide license information or state that no license is required for the work advertised, and confirm that the information is accurate and that the advertiser is responsible for holding all permissions required to advertise and provide those services in each service area. The declaration is recorded with the listing. Choosing “No license is required” is the advertiser's statement, not a legal determination by JustList.

JustList does not routinely verify every license before publication. A listing may be published after ordinary content moderation without a licensing check or a verification badge. A moderator's approval, an entered number, a document upload, a paid feature, or publication itself does not constitute license verification. A separate “License record checked” label appears only after an actual check has been recorded for the current listing version. If no check is performed, no license-check badge is displayed.

The advertiser must hold every credential required by applicable law, including requirements that apply before advertising, solicitation or bidding, and must include any legally required license number or disclosure in the advertisement. Self-declaration, publication and the absence of a badge do not authorize illegal advertising or unlicensed work.

3. Background checks

JustList does not conduct criminal or other background checks unless a specific feature expressly states the provider, scope, databases, persons covered, date, and limitations. An identity check is not a background check. The absence of a record is not proof that no record exists, and a record does not by itself establish current risk or suitability.

If JustList later introduces background checks, the feature requires separately reviewed consent, adverse-action, privacy, accuracy, dispute, state-law, and fair-chance procedures before launch.

4. Provider duties

Providers must submit genuine, current information, respond to re-verification requests, and notify JustList promptly of expiration, suspension, restriction, cancellation, material complaint, or any change that makes a badge inaccurate. Providers may not copy a JustList badge, display it outside its intended context, alter its wording, or describe it more broadly than the accompanying explanation. A Provider must not use another person's or business's credential or advertise outside the credential's classification, value limit, geographic scope, or authorized entity.

5. Customer due diligence

Customers must independently evaluate a Provider for the particular work. Check credentials directly with the issuing authority, confirm insurance with the insurer or agent when appropriate, identify who will perform the work, request references, compare written estimates, and use a direct written contract. Do not rely on color, icon, checkmark, rank, review count, or badge alone.

6. Expiration, removal, and corrections

JustList may add, change, expire, suspend, or remove a badge and may request supporting information. A license-check label expires on the recorded credential-expiry date when one is available; a new listing revision does not inherit an old check. Removal or expiration of a badge alone does not automatically prevent publication. JustList may separately restrict or remove an advertisement for false information, unlawful services, failure to hold a required credential, or another policy violation. Absence of a badge does not establish whether a Provider is qualified or licensed. Report an inaccurate statement or badge to [email protected]. A Provider may appeal an eligible enforcement decision using the method in the notice.

7. Privacy and contact

Verification information is handled under the Privacy Policy and any notice presented with the verification feature. Do not submit biometric information, Social Security numbers, or identity documents unless the feature specifically requests them through an approved secure provider. Questions: [email protected]. Suspected false credentials: [email protected]. Privacy requests: [email protected].

8. Platform role and responsibility

JustList supplies an advertising and communications platform and does not enter into or perform the service agreement between the Provider and Customer. Advertisers are responsible for their statements and conduct. Except for the specific check expressly identified by a current label, JustList makes no representation that an advertiser's credential information is accurate, complete, genuine, current, or sufficient for a particular project. To the extent permitted by applicable law, users bear the risks of relying on advertiser-supplied information. Nothing in this Policy excludes a duty or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

JustList may investigate reports, request information, moderate content, or take action under its Terms and other policies. Such activity, or the absence of activity, does not amount to an endorsement or a promise to detect every violation. Providers remain subject to their responsibilities and any applicable indemnification obligations in the Terms of Service and Provider Agreement.
